High School Football 2022 Preseason Rankings

Two-time defending national champ Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) begins the season as the No. 1 team in the High School Football America 100 national rankings.

The Monarchs won back-to-back HSFA national titles in 2017 and 2018. Led by legendary head coach Bruce Rollinson, who owns 315-lifetime high school football coaching victories, Mater Dei is coming-off a perfect 5-0 spring season. There wasn’t a postseason in California due to COVID-19 protocols.

Falling in behind Mater Dei at No. 2 is two-time defending Texas high school football state champ Westlake High (Austin, Texas).

The Chaparrals are led by head coach Todd Dodge, who has won six state championships. Last month, Dodge announced that he will be retiring at the end of the 2021 high school football season.

No. 3 Thompson (Alabaster, Alabama) will be going after a third straight Class 7A title this season. Head coach Mark Freeman brings a lifetime record of 223-51 in 22 seasons as a head coach. Freeman has won four Alabama High School Athletic Association state championships to go along with four state titles in the Alabama Independent School Association.

Florida-power St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) checks in the preseason national rankings at No. 4. The Raiders have won back-to-back Class 7A state championships. STA had 11 alumni in the NFL at the start of the season, most of any high school.

Rounding out the top five is IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida), winners of the 2020-21 national championship. It was the Ascenders' first-ever national crown.

During the offseason, IMG promoted NFL Legend Pepper Johnson from defensive coordinator to head coach. Johnson won two Super Bowls during his 13-year NFL career. Overall, Texas leads the way with 19 teams in the HSFA 100, followed by Florida with 15. Georgia has the third most teams in the Top 100 with nine.

Powered by NFL Play Football, the High School Football America 100 is created using HSFA’s proprietary algorithm.

High School Football Ranking 2022 Week 1

Four losses inside the Top 25 shook up the High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football.

Preseason No. 13 Lowndes (Georgia), No. 15 Trinity (Kentucky), No. 17 Grayson (Georgia), and No. 22 Miami Central (Florida) all lost their season openers over the weekend.

The most shocking defeat was when unranked Creekside (Georgia) beat defending Georgia 7A champ Grayson, 19-14. The loss knocked the Rams all the way down to No. 147 this week. Creekside made its first-ever appearance in our national rankings at No. 136.

Lowndes was the highest-ranked team in Georgia before suffering an overtime defeat to Walton (Georgia). Lowndes slipped to No. 77 after the loss, and Walton, which was an honorable mention in HSFA's preseason rankings, entered the HSFA 100 at No. 75.

Trinity fell to preseason No. 154 Carmel (Indiana), which crossed state lines to hand the Shamrocks a loss after trailing 17-0. Carmel climbed to No. 72, and Trinity tumbled to No. 76.

Miami Central's loss was on the west coast to California powerhouse St. John Bosco, which moved up one spot to No. 6 in the nation this week. The Rockets fell eight spots this week and will try to rebound this week when it plays No. 60 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) in Naples, Florida.

The other new addition to the Top 100 is Elder (Ohio), which moved from No. 101 to No. 100 after beating Covington Catholic (Kentucky).

Florida and Texas open their regular seasons this week. HSFA doesn't use the Florida Kickoff Classics in its proprietary rankings algorithm, since they don't count toward a team’s overall record.

In addition to the Gorman/Miami Central game, there will be nine other head-to-head matchups in the Top 100, including a showdown between No. 1 Mater Dei (California) and No. 14 Duncanville (Texas).

Here are the other Top 100 head-to-heads:

No. 32 St. Frances Academy (Maryland) at No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida)
No. 6 Southlake Carroll (Texas) at No. 86 Highland Park (Texas)
No. 13 Bergen Catholic (New Jersey) at No. 16 Archbishop Hoban (Ohio)
No. 20 Oakland (Tennessee) at No. 85 Madison-Ridgeland Academy (Mississippi)
No. 25 Cardinal Gibbons (Florida) at No. 90 Venice (Florida)
No. 42 Good Counsel (Maryland) at No. 57 St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, New Jersey)
No. 100 Elder (Ohio) at No. 50 Pickerington Central (Ohio)
No. 80 Arlington Martin (Texas) at No. 82 Lake Travis (Texas)

High School Football Rankings 2022 Week 2

Eden James is following in his father’s footsteps.

The 5-10, 180-pound running back — and son of 2020 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Edgerrin James — ran for 267 yards and two touchdowns for Treasure Coast (Port St. Lucie, Florida) in a 29-21 upset of defending Florida 5A champ American Heritage.

Eden James currently has nine college scholarship offers, including from the University of Miami (his dad’s alma mater) and all three military academies. And his big night helped Treasure Coast break into the Week 2 High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football. The team entered the Week 2 rankings at No. 61, after being ranked No. 149 after Week 1.

American Heritage (Plantation, Florida), coached by NFL Legend Patrick Surtain, entered the game ranked No. 15. But after the upset, American Heritage slipped to No. 64 in Week 2's rankings.

In addition to Treasure Coast, there are four other new teams in the Top 100.

Atlanta's Westlake High School jumped from No. 161 to No. 63 after a hard-fought road win against former No. 38 Colquitt County (Georgia).

Georgia's North Cobb climbed 38 spots to No. 72 this week after beating former No. 43 Milton (Georgia) on national television Friday night.

Bartram Trail (Florida) rose 13 spots to No. 98 this week. The Bears will test that ranking against No. 36 Columbus (Miami, Florida) on Friday.

Auburn High (Alabama) also entered the rankings at No. 99 after being ranked No. 109 last week.

Aside from the Bartram Trail/Columbus matchup, there are eleven other head-to-head HSFA 100 matchups this weekend.

No. 2 Westlake (Texas) vs. No. 53 Euless Trinity (Texas)
No. 5 IMG Academy (Florida) vs. No. 21 La Salle (Ohio)

High School Football Rankings 2022  Week 3

For the second week in a row, four highly-ranked teams in the High School Football America Top 100 tasted defeat.

Losses by No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida), No. 21 La Salle (Ohio), No. 24 Good Counsel (Maryland), and No. 25 Denton Ryan (Texas) shook up the Top 100 for Week 3, powered by NFL Play Football.

Jesuit High School (Tampa, FL) secured a last-second 24-21 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. The win elevated the Tigers into the Top 25 for the first time ever, moving from No. 91 to No. 24. The previously fourth-ranked Raiders, who traveled to Tampa last minute for the game, dropped to No. 25.

Also charging into the Top 25 in Nevada's Bishop Gorman. Gorman moved up 35 spots to No. 20 this week after a heart-stopping one-point win on Saturday night in Naples, Florida against Miami Central (Florida), who dropped to No. 31.

Central’s 0-2 start is its worst in over 15 years. However, the Rockets' losses have been against two highly ranked opponents — No. 5 St. John Bosco (California) and Gorman.

Corona Centennial (California), which couldn’t play its scheduled regular-season opener against Mater Dei due to COVID-19 protocols, rose into the Top 100 to No. 47. The Huskies beat former No. 46 Sierra Canyon (California) 35-14. The Trailblazers dropped to No. 102.

The top three — Mater Dei, Westlake (Texas), and Thompson (Alabama) — all held their spots this week. Defending national champ IMG Academy (Florida) moved from No. 5 to No. 4 after blasting former No. 21 La Salle (Ohio) 58-7. The Ascenders will return to Bradenton to host No. 32 Northwestern (Florida) and No. 45 Jones (Orlando, FL) in the next two weeks.

Creekside (Georgia) is making its first-ever appearance in the Top 100, coming in at No. 79 this week after season-opening wins over defending 7A champ Grayson and Westlake this past weekend. Also new to the Week, 3 rankings are Imhotep Charter (Pennsylvania) at No. 84, Atascocita (Texas) at No. 87, East St. Louis (Illinois) at No. 90, and Grayson (Georgia) at No. 93.

High School Football Rankings 2022 Week 4

For the third straight week, four top 25 teams lost — causing a big shake-up in the Week 4 High School Football America Top 100, powered by NFL Play Football.

No. 8 St. Joseph’s Prep (Pennsylvania) lost at home to Milton (Georgia). The three-time defending Pennsylvania 6A champs dropped to No. 49 this week, and Milton climbed to No. 47 after a 3-1 start.

St. Francis (California) scored with sixteen seconds to go in the game and handed No. 18 De La Salle (California) its first loss against a northern California opponent in 30 years. The 318-game streak began after the Spartans lost their final game in 1991 to Pittsburg in the North Coast Section championship game. De La Salle dropped to No. 63, and St. Francis entered the Top 100 at No. 61, the highest-ranking ever for the Lancers.

North Shore (Texas), the winner of two of the last three state championships in the biggest classification in Texas, lost to Westfield (Texas) 28-21. North Shore tumbled from No. 13 to No. 74, while Westfield soared from No. 172 to No. 72.

No. 23 Pickerington Central (Ohio) lost in overtime to unranked arch-rival Pickerington North (Ohio) 13-10. The Tigers fell to No. 91 this week.

Bishop Gorman (Nevada) beat another ranked opponent and ascended to No. 12 after being ranked at No. 89 in the preseason. Gorman has already beaten No. 30 Miami Central (Florida), No. 125 Lone Peak (Utah), and No. 136 Saint Louis (Hawaii), and will face No. 46 Hamilton (Arizona) this week.

The Gorman/Hamilton game is one of eleven head-to-head HSFA Top 100 matchups coming up this weekend.

No. 5 St. John Bosco (California) at No. 92 Oscar Smith (Virginia)
No. 7 Gonzaga (Washington, DC) at No. 49 St. Joseph’s Prep (Pennsylvania)
No. 12 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) at No. 46 Hamilton (Arizona)

Along with St. Francis and Westfield, seven other teams entered the Top 100 this week: Edgewater (Florida) at No. 71, Cartersville (Georgia) at No. 79, La Salle College High School (Pennsylvania) at No. 82, Mount Carmel (Chicago, Illinois) at No. 97, Rockledge (Florida) at No. 98, Loyola Academy (Illinois) at No. 99, and Valor Christian (Colorado) at No. 100.

High School Football Rankings 2022 Week 5

Five weeks into the high school football season, the only thing certain is nothing is for certain.

This past weekend was another topsy-turvy one, with three Top-25 teams losing for the first time this year and shaking up the High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football.

No. 7 Gonzaga (Washington, DC) was the highest-ranked team to lose. The Eagles were beaten soundly by No. 49 St. Joseph's Prep (Pennsylvania) by a 35-7 margin. St. Joseph's, the three-time defending Pennsylvania 6A champs, rebounded after a loss to Milton (Georgia) last week and moved up to No. 47. Gonzaga dropped to No. 55.

No. 12 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) lost in dramatic fashion as Hamilton (Arizona) scored three times in the final 65 seconds to shock the Gaels 25-24. Hamilton climbed from No. 46 to No. 20 this week, and Gorman slipped nine spots to No. 21.

Through the first five weeks of the season, 12 of the Preseason Top 100 have suffered losses.

New to the Top 25 this week is St. Peter's Prep (New Jersey) at No. 23. The Marauders are a perfect 4-0 after beating previously unbeaten Seton Hall Prep 22-21 in double overtime.

There are four new teams this week in the HSFA 100 — Greenville Christian (Mississippi) at No. 89, Katy Tompkins (Texas) at No. 98, Bartram Trail (Florida) at No. 99, and Carmel (Indiana) at No. 100.

High School Football Rankings 2022 Week 6

Week 6 was relatively calm for the High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football.

The only Top 25 team to lose was two-time defending North Carolina class 4AA champ Chambers, which lost 16-10 to Hough in a battle of unbeaten.

Chambers dropped from No. 12 to No. 51. Hough is the biggest climber of the week, ascending 35 spots to No. 49.

The other big mover this week is Cocoa (FL), who overcame a 28-7 first-quarter deficit to top No. 50 Treasure Coast (FL) 56-55 in double overtime.

Cocoa went two on the final play of the second OT. The gutsy call let the Tigers leap 27 spots this week to No. 52.

This week, top-ranked Mater Dei (CA) travels to No. 4 St. John Bosco (CA) in a colossal matchup.

Top States in the HSFA 100 Through the first half of the season, the State of Texas leads the way with 18 teams in the HSFA 100. In all, 24 states plus Washington, D.C. have teams in the Top 100.

Georgia - 10
Ohio - 7

Louisiana - 5
Alabama - 4
Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee - 3
Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma - 2

High School Football Rankings 2022 Week 7

The first October High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football, gives a clear idea of the national championship chase.

Top-ranked Mater Dei took control of its destiny with its 42-21 win over No. 4 St. John Bosco. If the Monarchs win a California Open Division title, Mater Dei will capture its third national title in the last five years.

However, the Monarchs still have four Trinity League regular-season games left. And in the postseason, they're likely to face another game against St. John Bosco.

This week, the Monarchs will play No. 127 Orange Lutheran, followed by an October 15 matchup against No. 95 Santa Margarita. On October 23, Mater Dei will play arch-rival Servite, ranked at No. 24.

Right behind Mater Dei are a pair of two-time defending state champs — Westlake (Texas) at No. 2 and Thompson (Alabama) at No. 3.

St. John Bosco held on to the No. 4 spot in the latest rankings and will try to bounce back from the Mater Dei loss this week against JSerra, the only Trinity League team not ranked nationally.

Defending national champ IMG Academy (Florida) rounds out the Top 5. The Ascenders play three more teams in our national rankings — No. 21 St. Frances Academy (Maryland), No. 56 East St. Louis (Illinois), and No. 120 Auburn (Alabama).

There are five new teams in the HSFA 100 this week — DePaul (New Jersey) at No. 93, Santa Margarita (California) at No. 95, Mill Creek (Georgia) at No. 96, Rockwall-Heath (Texas) at No. 98, and Bryant (Arkansas) at No. 99.

High School Football 2022 Rankings Week 8

The High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football, held steady this week with just a few big movers.

The biggest shake-up in the rankings came after No. 22 Corner Canyon (Utah) lost to Lone Peak, snapping the Chargers’ 48-game win streak. Central Canyon tumbled 72 spots to No. 94 this week.

Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, FL) climbed back into the Top 100 after knocking off No. 36 American Heritage (Florida). TCA, which was ranked No. 36 two weeks ago, checks back in at No. 84 this week.

Along with TCA, several new teams entered the top 100. Bolles School (Florida) is ranked No. 78 this week, its highest ranking ever. Los Alamitos (California) also cracked the top 100 for the first time, at No. 99. Archbishop Moeller earned the No. 100 spot after beating then-No. 97 St. Ignatius by going for 2 on the final play of overtime.

High School Football 2022 Rankings Week 9

Three top 25 teams — No. 14 Cathedral (Indiana), No. 15 St. Edward (Ohio), and No. 24 Denton Guyer (Texas) — suffered their first losses of the season in Week 9, scrambling the top of the High School Football America 100 powered by NFL Play Football.

Cathedral, the 2020 5A champion in Indiana, lost to No. 8 Center Grove (IN), the state's defending 6A champ. The 21-6 victory pushed Center Grove’s win streak to 23 straight heading into the opening round of the postseason. Cathedral fell 15 spots to No. 29 in this week's rankings.

St. Edward entered the week having won seven of its last eight games by double digits but slipped in overtime to No. 100 Archbishop Moeller (OH). St. Edward dropped 12 spots to No. 27, while Moeller climbed 36 spots to No. 64.

Denton Guyer’s 38-31 upset at the hands of No. 63 Allen (TX) gave the Eagles the lead in Texas' District 5-6A. Allen ascended to No. 40, while Denton Guyer fell to No. 42.

St. Ignatius (Ohio) re-entered the Top 100 at No. 90 after surprising defending Division I champ St. Xavier, who fell four places to No. 35. And McCallie (Tennessee) broke into the HSFA 100 at No. 99.

High School Football 2022 Rankings Week 10

The road to another High School Football America national championship is very straight for Mater Dei (California).

After knocking-off arch-rival Servite on Saturday, Mater Dei is 7-0 with one regular-season game left. All the Monarchs have to do to win their third HSFA national title is run the table to a California Open Division championship.

The biggest challenges left for the Monarchs, who won HSFA national titles in 2017 and 2018, are two potential playoff rematches with St. John Bosco (No. 3) and Servite (No. 19).

Other top contenders in the HSFA 100 shifted positions this weekend.

Thompson's (AL) hopes of winning a national title ended Friday night when the two-time defending 7A champs lost to Hoover 24-21. The Warriors dropped from No. 3 to No. 15 in the High School Football America 100 this week, while Hoover advanced to No. 9.

Bergen Catholic (NJ) knocked off No. 103 Seton Hall Prep on Saturday to move up three spots to No. 6.

In Texas, No. 2 Westlake and No. 5 Southlake Carroll, who played for the 6A Division I championship last year, are in a good position heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. Westlake is looking for its third straight state title under legendary head coach Todd Dodge, who is retiring at the end of this season.

Here are the full rankings with nine weeks to go until the crowing of the 2021 national champ on December 19.

High School Football 2022 Rankings Week 11

This past weekend featured five head-to-head matchups in the High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football.

In California, No. 3 St. John Bosco wrapped up second place in the Trinity League and the No. 2 seed in the uber-tough CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoff with a win over No. 19 Servite.
In Georgia, No. 18 Collins Hill finished out a perfect 10-0 regular season by beating formerly undefeated No. 82 Mill Creek. The Eagles' defense forced five turnovers in the 40-10 victory. Collins Hill held steady at No. 18, while Mill Creek fell to No. 85 this week.
In Washington, D.C., No. 23 St. John's College High School secured a piece of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship by beating No. 73 Good Counsel 34-21. The Cadets can win the title outright by beating archrival Gonzaga this weekend.
In Texas, No. 62 North Shore captured the Texas District 21-6A crown by upsetting former No. 45 Atascocita 31-21. North Shore moved up to No. 48 in the latest rankings.
In Florida, defending 6A champ Miami Central beat rival Miami Northwestern for the second time this year. The Rockets held steady at No. 22 after their 49-7 win, while the Bulls slipped 23 places to No. 57.
The shock of the week occurred in Louisiana, where No. 21 Catholic (Baton Rouge) was toppled by Woodlawn 35-28. Woodlawn entered the game with a 2-4 record. Catholic tumbled 37 places to No. 58.

Central High School in Phenix, Alabama entered this week's HSFA 100 for the first time at No. 97.

A showdown between No. 2 Westlake and No. 61 Lake Travis looms this week with the Texas District 26-6A championship on the line. The rivalry game, known as the "Battle of the Lakes," began in 2006. Westlake will be looking for its second straight Texas high school football championship when the playoffs begin in two weeks.

High School Football Rankings 2022 Week 12

As high school teams across the country gear up for the playoffs, few teams changed positions in this week's High School Football America 100, powered by the NFL Play Football.

The postseason is underway in every state except Arizona, Connecticut, and Hawaii.

In California, top-ranked Mater Dei will face No. 119 Norco in the opening round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoff.

Looming in the second round for the Monarchs is the winner of the game between No. 24 Corona Centennial and No. 95 Mission Viejo.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 3 St. John Bosco plays No. 87 Los Alamitos. The winner of the SJB/Los Al game gets the winner of the other quarterfinal game between No. 19 Servite and No. 121 Santa Margarita.

In Texas, national No. 2 Westlake will be looking for its third straight state championship as the playoffs begin. Westlake brings a 34-game win streak into the postseason and opens the Class 6A Division II playoffs against Hutto. Westlake could face No. 7 Katy in the state semifinals.

In Arizona, No. 11 Chandler and No. 16 Hamilton will face off to wrap up the regular season. It's the 29th meeting between the two Phoenix-area schools. Chandler, the five-time defending state champs, have won nine straight against their rivals, including two wins last year.

High School Football 2022 Rankings Week 13

Two southern California playoff games this weekend will shape the stretch run for the High School Football America national championship.

Top-ranked Mater Dei, which won HSFA national titles in 2017 and 2018, will face No. 22 Corona Centennial in the first CIF-Southern Section Division 1 semifinal. The teams were scheduled to meet in the first week of the regular season, but that game was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.

No. 3 St. John Bosco, national champion in 2019, faces No. 18 Servite in the second semifinal, a rematch of a 24-10 Bosco win on October 29.

Wins by Mater Dei and St. John Bosco would set up a colossal rematch for the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 crown.

In Florida, defending national champ and fourth-ranked IMG Academy (Florida) will face No. 19 St. Frances Academy (Maryland). This will be the third all-time meeting between the national powers. NFL Legend Pepper Johnson, who won two Super Bowl rings with the New York Giants, is in his first year as IMG's head coach.

The biggest shake-up in this week's rankings came from last week's rivalry game between Hamilton and Chandler in Arizona. Hamilton upset Chandler 21-14, moving from No. 16 to No. 14 in the national rankings. Chandler, who has won five straight state titles, tumbled from No. 11 to No. 33 after the loss. The teams can meet again in the Arizona Open Division championship game.

Six teams entered the HSFA 100 this week, including Lipscomb Academy (TN), led by former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer. Lipscomb makes its first-ever appearance in the Top 100 at No. 92.

High School Football Rankings 2022 Week 14

With one month to go until the 2021 High School Football America national champ is crowned, Mater Dei (California) continues to control its destiny. However, if the Monarchs slip up, there are three Texas high school football teams in the Top 5 waiting to ascend to the top spot.

The next hurdle for Mater Dei in its journey for a third national title in five years is a rematch with arch-rival Servite for the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 title. Servite moves-up twelve spots to No. 6 in the latest High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football, after beating former No. 3 St. John Bosco in the division semifinals.

When these the Southern California heavyweights met on October 23, the two went toe-to-toe before Mater Dei beat Servite 46-37. The last time Servite beat Mater Dei, in their series that dates back to 1961, was during the 2011 season.

Mater Dei hasn't moved an inch from its preseason No. 1 ranking, but neither has Westlake at No. 2. The two-time defending Texas state champs are on a 36-game win streak heading into this weekend's Class 6A Division II regional semifinal against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North (PSJA).

Texas fans are already looking ahead to two rounds. If Westlake keeps winning and so does No. 5 Katy, the Chaparrals and Tigers will meet in the state semifinals.

Let's not forget about Southlake Carroll at No. 3 in the latest rankings that are created with the HSFA proprietary algorithm. The Dragons lost to Westlake in last year's 6A Division I championship.

The last Texas team to win a High School Football America national championship was the Allen Eagles, who won three straight titles from 2012 through 2014.

Bergen Catholic in New Jersey is also in the mix. The Crusaders move-up two spots this week to No. 4.

BC will play arch-rival Don Bosco Prep Saturday for the Non-Public A state championship. During the regular season, the undefeated Crusaders shut out Bosco 17-0 on September 24.

The BC/DBP game will be played at MetLife Stadium, home of the NFL's New York Giants and New York Jets.

High School Football Rankings 2022 Week 15

For Mater Dei (California), it's one game for the High School Football America 100 national championship.

The Monarchs can secure their third title in five years with a win against Serra High School in the California Open Division Championship on December 11. Mater Dei topped then-No. 6 Servite on November 26 to advance to the state title game.

Mater Dei, who won HSFA national titles in 2017 and 2018, has spent all season ranked No. 1 by HSFA's proprietary algorithm.

Serra High School, Tom Brady’s alma mater, beat then-No. 50 St. Francis for the Central Coast Section Division 1 title. Serra moved up from No. 100 to No. 77 in this week's rankings.

Elsewhere this past weekend, four HSFA 100 teams won state championships on NFL fields.

In New Jersey, No. 4 Bergen Catholic beat arch-rival Don Bosco Prep 28-7 at MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and New York Jets. The Crusaders’ Non-Public A title closed out a perfect 12-0 season.
No. 8 Center Grove secured its second straight Indiana 6A state title with a 27-21 win over No. 94 Westfield at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.
No. 26 Cathedral also won its second straight Indiana 5A title. The Fighting Irish beat Zionsville 34-14 for the school’s 14th overall state championship.
Detroit’s Martin Luther King moved up to No. 51 after beating defending Michigan Division 3 champ DeWitt 25-21 at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions.
This week, Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, and West Virginia will hold their state championship games.

High School Football  Rankings 2022 Week 16

With two weeks left in the season, five teams are on the hunt for the 2021 High School Football America national title.

Top-ranked Mater Dei (California) controls its destiny. The Monarchs can wrap up the team's third national title in five years by beating No. 75 Serra (San Mateo, California) in the Open Division championship.

If heavily-favored Mater Dei falters, No. 2 Westlake (Texas) is waiting in the wings. Westlake, which has won two straight Texas state championships, will face No. 5 Katy in the Class 6A Division II state semifinals. Either team could ascend to the top spot in the HSFA 100, which is determined by HSFA's proprietary algorithm.

In Class 6A Division I, the largest classification in Texas, another championship hopeful, No. 3 Southlake Carroll, will face No. 25 Duncanville in one semifinal. On the other side of the bracket, No. 33 North Shore will square off with No. 41 Lake Travis.

Unbeaten and fourth-ranked Bergen Catholic (NJ) is the final contender should the other teams in the mix slip up.

During this past weekend, 13 teams in the HSFA 100 won state championships. Five of those championship matchups featured two ranked teams.

No. 85 Gaffney beat No. 14 Dutch Fork 22-19 to win South Carolina's 5A title. Dutch Fork had won five straight state titles with a 62-game unbeaten streak that dated back to 2016.
Thompson won its third straight Alabama 7A championship with a 38-22 win over No. 75 Central (Phenix City).

No. 22 St. Edward beat No. 47 Springfield 23-13 for the Ohio Division 1 state championship. It's Eagle's fifth title since 2010.
Kentucky’s 6A title belongs to No. 88 St. Xavier after a 31-21 win over No. 29 Male High School. It is the Tigers' first state title since 2009.

In a rematch of last year's Colorado 5A title matchup, No. 98 Cherry Creek won its third straight title by beating No. 54 Valor Christian 21-0. The win gives former NFL wide receiver Dave Logan 10 Colorado high school football championships, tied with Limon High School’s Lloyd Gaskill for most in state history. Logan, the play-by-play voice of the Denver Broncos, is also the only coach in America to win state championships at four different schools.
